
In order to save and, maintaining the nation's cultural heritage, the Ministry of Health through the Center for Research and Development Services and Health Technology in Surabaya, since 1990 pioneered a medical museum that collects and displays historic objects in health efforts since the ancient times till the now.
Formally, on September 14, 2004, the Minister of Health inaugurated the museum with the name "Museum of Health, Dr. Adhyatma, MPH - MOH."
In regard to these efforts, it should be realized also even more advanced age, increasingly sophisticated technology, but the cultural heritage of nations including health culture ditingggalkan should not be granted.
Therefore, the Museum of Health is expected to be a medium of education or learning for the general public and the scientific community concerned with the health effort.
The purpose of the construction of this museum is to save and preserve historical objects in the field of health from ancient times until now. In addition, this museum also to provide information to the public of the present generation and future generations about the ins and outs of health from the historical, cultural, scientific and so forth.
Museums in equipped with a "special library" which is a library that collects and serves the form of library materials: books, magazines, tapes record sound, video footage and others. Library materials that allows for an exploration of cultural studies health efforts.
Adapaun collection of historic objects in the field of health efforts from different regions, race / ethnicity, religion / belief and so dipaprkan in the form: the original object, object imitation, replica, photograph or image. While the exposure or the technical way of showing off in the museum is presented in different space groups show called Sasana. Various Sasana include:
1. Sasana Adhyatma
Sasana describes the various collections of the late Dr. Adhyatma MPH when he was appointed Minister of Health of Indonesia in 1988 until 1993, there is also a collection of inscriptions
2. Sasana Kencana
In this room exhibited a variety of historical objects in the form of a merit badge, badges of precious metal, sign letters of appreciation and so on relating the struggle of health efforts. Room was also presented the history and profile of the museum's pioneering health.
3. Sasana Kespro
Storing and displaying various items / equipment kesahatan reproductive effort. among others, maternal and child health efforts from different cultures or cultural, health, pregnancy, childbirth and keluargaberencana.
4. Sasana Genetics
In this room exhibited various sarasilah and genealogical lineage that is closely related to genetics of a breed or a dynasty, among others sarasilah of various royal families in Indonesia.
5. Cultural Health Sasana
Health effort based on the belief or supernatural, supernatural world is a reality bdaya existing and developing since jama old times. An interesting phenomenon and at the same time be an challenge for us all to examine and uncover the mystery, in order to be utilized for all of us health, prosperity and humanity.
6. Fauna Sasana
The animals around us have neglected existence. Various animals can be a mediator of the disease (vector), but there are also some bnatang which merit as a medicinal ingredient and so help us all.
7. Medical and non Medical Sasana
Various medical equipment and non-medical support health efforts are stored and exhibited this room. These artifacts are used by health institutions in earlier times and become a very large historical objects health services for our community.
